【摘要】:ThisEuropeanStandardspecifiestheperformancerequirementsforaClassBindicatortobeusedasanalternativetotheBowieandDicktestforsteamsterilizersforwrappedgoods(instruments,etc.andporousloads).AnindicatorcomplyingwiththisEuropeanStandardincorporatesaspecifiedmaterialwhichisusedasatestload.Thistestloadmay,ormaynot,bere-usable.ThisEuropeanstandarddoesnotspecifyrequirementsforthetestloadbutspecifiestheperformanceoftheindicatorsystemincombinationwiththetestloadwithwhichitisintendedtobeused.TheindicatorspecifiedinthisEuropeanstandardisintendedtoidentifypoorsteampenetrationbutdoesnotindicatenecessarilythecauseofthispoorsteampenetration.TheBowieandDicktestisperformedtodemonstrateconformityofasteamsterilizerforwrappedgoodstoEN285andmaybeusedasaroutinetestofperformanceofsuchasterilizer(seeEN554).ThemethodofcarryingoutthetestisdescribedinEN285.ThisEuropeanStandarddoesnotincludetestmethodstoestablishthesuitabilityoftheseindicatorsforuseinsterilizersinwhichtheairremovalstagedoesnotincludeevacuationbelowatmosphericpressure.
